The main shrine is revered as the guardian deity of Shishikui and is deeply respected by all residents of the town. The deity enshrined here is Hondawake no Mikoto. According to records, “The various festivals are conducted with the utmost solemnity. During the annual festival, there are events such as the Shinkou-shiki (procession of the deity), horse racing, and sumo wrestling. There is also a custom of singing a song called ”Umako-uta“ and visiting each household, but the origin of this custom is unclear.” In recent years, the festival has become more lively with the addition of danjiri floats, Sekifune boats, and night stalls.
