The clear Kaifu River that flows through Kaiyo Town is a treasure trove of river fish. Ever since the ban on sweetfish fishing (friend fishing) was lifted on June 1st, many anglers from inside and outside the prefecture come to catch sweetfish in the clear waters. red-spotted masu trout are also often caught in the upper reaches of the river. In June 2008, the Kaibe River was selected as one of the "100 best waters of the Heisei Era”.
